When me and my sister visited Berlin last year we were excited to try some of the vegan restaurants in the city. My sister isn’t vegan but luckily she loves delicious, healthy food as much as I do. We had high expectations after reading that Berlin must be a vegan walhalla. It was hard to choose from so many places but we were definitely not disappointed. I say this with every city I go to, but I’ll definitely have to go back to Berlin if only just to try more vegan yumminess!

All vegan and gluten free
The Bowl is located above the Veganz supermarket. This is an all vegan grocery store which I highly recommend checking out before or after your visit to The Bowl. The Bowl itself is a trendy, Instagram worthy place to eat. The food is beautiful and delicious. We literally stuffed ourselves (starter, main and dessert) but it was worth it.

Let it Be is actually a crêperie but we went here for their delicious vegan burgers. I wanted to try every single item on the menu, but unfortunately most burgers weren’t gluten free. The Wendy O. Williams burger was though, and it was amazing! My sister had the Chrissie Hynde burger. We also had some crêpes for dessert (couldn’t resist) but forgot to take photos..

Vegan and gluten free options on request

Sometimes when I’m traveling and I don’t plan ahead well enough I end up just asking around if any place can prepare a vegan and gluten free meal for me. I was surprised to see that Vapiano had gluten free and vegan options on request, because the Vapiano in my home town in The Netherlands doesn’t even have any vegan OR gluten free options. It wasn’t a very sophisticated pizza (tomato sauce, tomatoes, garlic, arugula and olive oil), but call it a “minimalist pizza” and it suits me pretty well.

I’m not a big ice cream lover to begin with, and I definitely don’t care for sorbet. So maybe I’m not the best person to rate a gelateria. I was curious to taste the soy based ice cream at this place though. I think I had the Soja Erdnuss Crunch flavor (not quite sure). It was pretty good! And I love that they offer some vegan options, but to me personally it’s a shame that most vegan flavors are fruity sorbets.
